Izabella (she/her) is a theatre maker on Gadigal Land.

She studied Theatre and Mandarin at Drew University (NJ, USA), and upon graduation was awarded the Thomas H. Kean President’s Award for Excellence in Theatre.

 

While in the US, Izabella performed Off-Broadway and studied devising with Tectonic Theatre Project, studied and performed with the Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey, interned for Broadway casting company The Telsey Office, associate produced NJPAC’s 10th Annual Alvin Ailey Day of Dance, and performed and wrote with NJ-based comedy troupe The Football Team.

 

On return to Australia, Izabella conceptualised and produced the sold-out immersive production of Much Ado About Nothing, was selected for ATYP’s 2021 National Studio and 2022 Fresh Ink, had her play FISH DOOF published by Currency Press as a part of Intersection: Bloom, and spent the majority of 2023 touring Australia performing children’s theatre. In 2023, Izabella was also shortlisted for KXT’s inaugural David Bathur Creative Fellowship.

 

Environmental activism and community building is at the forefront of all of Izabella’s work, and she believes theatre, community, and joy are vital tools in the climate fight. She is the founder and creative director of Blinking Light; an environmentally sustainable theatre company dedicated to creating bold works of theatre that build community, spread joy, and further the fight against climate change.

 

Izabella also works as a freelance dramaturg, director, choreographer, and drama/dance teacher.
